Omega
For those who value precision and style in equal measure.

Founded in 1848 in Switzerland, Omega is known for its precise timekeeping and stylish designs, often associated with significant historical events, including the moon landing. Positioned as a heritage Swiss maison, Omega blends tradition with innovation, offering a range of luxury watches that appeal to both collectors and casual wearers.
The Swiss manufacturer behind the Moonwatch and James Bond's Seamaster — in-house Co-Axial movements, METAS-tested anti-magnetic certification, and prices that consistently undercut Rolex on comparable references.

About Omega
Omega was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Louis Brandt, initially assembling pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen before consolidating production into a single factory under his sons in 1894 — the batch-production system that gave the company its name, after the 19-ligne calibre it introduced that year, the 'Omega'. The brand supplied timekeeping for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, the first of what is now a century-long relationship as Olympic official timekeeper.
In 1965, NASA certified the Omega Speedmaster Professional as the only watch qualified for spaceflight and extravehicular activity after a punishing series of tests, and it was on Buzz Aldrin's wrist during the 1969 Moon landing. Omega has been part of the Swatch Group since 1998 and today manufactures its own Co-Axial escapement, an alternative to the standard Swiss lever escapement designed to reduce friction and extend service intervals.
Why Omega matters
Omega is one of the few brands that can claim genuine space and ocean-depth pedigree rather than marketing shorthand: the Speedmaster's NASA qualification and the Seamaster's role in deep-sea exploration (partnering with explorer James Cameron and the Ocean Exploration Trust) are documented, testable history, not brand copy. Since 2015 Omega has also pushed watch certification further than any other major manufacturer with Master Chronometer status, requiring every movement to pass eight independent tests at METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, including resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss.
The brand also carries five decades of James Bond association, having supplied 007's watch since GoldenEye in 1995, and a century of Olympic timekeeping that continues today — both give Omega a cultural visibility most competitors at its price point don't have.
Style, fit & buyer profile
Omega's catalogue splits along the same lines as Rolex's but at a lower price point: Speedmaster and Seamaster Diver 300M read as tool watches for daily wear, with steel cases from 40 to 45mm and functions built for timing or diving; Seamaster Aqua Terra and Constellation lean dress-sport to fully dressy, with cleaner dials and options from 36 to 41mm. De Ville is Omega's purely formal line, closer to a traditional dress watch.
Most current cases run 39-42mm, comfortable on the majority of adult wrists, with smaller 34-36mm references available in the Constellation and De Ville lines for those who prefer a slimmer profile. Buyers choosing between Speedmaster and Seamaster are usually choosing between a chronograph-first tool watch and a diver-first one; buyers looking at Constellation or De Ville are prioritizing dress presence over sport capability.
Price positioning
In the current 10h09 catalogue, Omega prices span roughly $7,000 for an entry Seamaster Aqua Terra or De Ville up to over $16,000 for a Constellation Globemaster or a fully-loaded Seamaster Diver 300M — a narrower range than Rolex's, without Rolex's precious-metal upper tier represented as heavily. The manual-wind Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, Omega's best-known model, lists around $8,000 in steel.
Omega generally undercuts Rolex on comparable references — a steel Seamaster Diver 300M lists below a steel Submariner, for instance — while offering the same Swiss in-house manufacture and a stricter chronometer certification (Master Chronometer vs Rolex's Superlative Chronometer). The tradeoff is secondary-market performance: without Rolex's waitlist-driven scarcity, most Omega references depreciate at or below retail rather than holding a premium.
