A refined expression of Grand Seiko's craftsmanship. The Lake Suwa model captures the essence of nature with its textured dial and practical features, seamlessly blending elegance and functionality.
"Evolution 9 is the modern-design pick, built on Grand Seiko’s newer design philosophy without losing the Spring Drive identity."
This is the rare piece in the Evolution 9 line I've catalogued that carries a date window instead of a power-reserve display, which changes the dial-balance calculus entirely: a blue 'Lake Suwa' dial has to accommodate the aperture without breaking symmetry, on a 40mm titanium case with a titanium bracelet, Spring Drive movement, 100m water resistance. Titanium over steel here isn't just a weight story — it also shifts the dial's blue slightly cooler under most light, a material-and-colour interaction I track separately on my scoring sheet. On my functional-layout axis, date apertures earn points for daily usefulness but cost points for disrupting an otherwise symmetric dial — a trade-off this piece handles better than most.
