Evolution 9 White Birch

Evolution 9 is Grand Seiko's newer case language — flatter, more angular, less heritage-dress and more its own thing — and the 'White Birch' dial is the reference that made the collection famous: a textured white surface modelled on birch bark, on a 40mm steel case, steel bracelet, Spring Drive movement, 100m water resistance, power-reserve display. What I log consistently on pieces like this is how much the case's flatter bezel and sharper lug transitions change legibility versus older Heritage cases at the same 40mm — light catches the dial texture differently, and on my legibility axis that reads as a genuine, measurable improvement, not just a styling refresh.
