Air-King

The Air-King is the plainest case Rolex currently makes, and on my scoring sheet that's a compliment: no bezel material to wear unevenly, no complication adding failure points, just a 100m steel case, a black dial, and a movement doing exactly one job well. At 40mm it's a size I've measured as comfortably versatile across wrist sizes in my catalogue, and at $11,075 it lands within a rounding error of the Explorer despite the different dial layout — proof that Rolex prices the case and movement quality here, not the visual complexity. If you want the underlying durability score without paying for anything decorative, this is close to the floor of what that costs.
