Casio
Shock-resistant quartz watches built to survive wear most other watches are designed around.

Casio's watch catalog here is built almost entirely around G-SHOCK — from a $110 resin-cased Origin square to steel Full Metal reissues and Master of G's Mudmaster, Rangeman and Gravitymaster tools. Every reference shares the same shock-resistant construction; what changes between them is case material, size, and which solar or sensor feature you're paying extra for.
Casio's story starts in 1946 as a small precision-parts workshop in Tokyo, long before quartz or digital watches existed — it added watchmaking in 1974 with the Casiotron, which Casio describes as the world's first digital watch with an automatic calendar. Its watch identity today is almost entirely G-SHOCK: the shock-resistant construction engineer Kikuo Ibe introduced in 1983 after reportedly building and destroying around 200 prototypes, now spanning everything from a $110 resin classic to a $1,400 solar dive watch. Within that one line, Casio has built genuinely distinct sub-collections — Origin's original square, the octagonal 2100 Series, Full Metal's stainless-steel builds, and Master of G's hazard-specific tools — so choosing well means picking a shape and feature set, not just a price.

Main collections
Origin
$110
The original G-SHOCK square, essentially unchanged since the 1983 DW-5000C — a resin case, backlight and 200m water resistance, with no solar or connected features to pay extra for.
2100 Series
$110
G-SHOCK's modern best-seller: an octagonal bezel and thinner case than the classic square, in resin (GA-2100), metal-accented (GM-2100) and solar-plus-Bluetooth (GA-B2100) versions.
Analog-Digital Classics
$130
The late-1990s/2000s G-SHOCK look: analog hands over a digital subdial, in the GA-100/GA-700 and DW-6900 families — bigger, bolder cases than Origin or the 2100 Series.
Full Metal
$590
The original square shape rebuilt in solid stainless steel instead of resin, with Tough Solar charging and radio or Bluetooth time sync — G-SHOCK's case for a dressier, heavier version of Origin.
Master of G
$860
G-SHOCK's rugged specialists, each built around one environment: Mudmaster for dust and mud, Rangeman and Gravitymaster for GPS positioning, and Frogman for dive-rated water resistance.
G-SQUAD / Move
$430
Fitness-oriented G-SHOCKs with a built-in heart-rate sensor and GPS, designed to log a run or workout without needing a phone close by.

Entirely resin-cased quartz references; the GW-5000U sits at the top for its premium build quality within the same shape.
The widest range in the catalog — plain quartz at the bottom, solar-plus-Bluetooth and metal-cased variants pushing the top.
Consistently among the most affordable G-SHOCK references, aside from the metal-cased GM-6900CMG at the top.
The GM-5600's metal-covered resin case starts the range; the all-steel GMW-B5000D and gold-toned GMW-BZ5000D sit at the top.
The catalog's most expensive line — GPS-equipped Rangeman and Gravitymaster references sit mid-range, with the dive-rated Frogman at the very top.
Pricing tracks sensor count — basic step/calorie tracking at the bottom, heart-rate-plus-GPS references like the GBD-H2000 at the top.
The brand
About Casio
Casio was founded in 1946 in Tokyo as Kashio Seisakusho, a workshop making precision parts, by Tadao Kashio. The company moved into calculators in the 1950s and into watches in 1974 with the Casiotron, which Casio describes as the world's first digital watch with an automatic calendar.
Casio actually makes several watch families — G-SHOCK, EDIFICE, PRO TREK, and simpler Standard and Vintage digitals — but every watch in this catalog is G-SHOCK, the shock-resistant line Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe introduced in 1983 after reportedly building and dropping roughly 200 prototypes in pursuit of a watch that wouldn't break.
Why Casio (G-SHOCK) matters
G-SHOCK's pitch is durability at a price no Swiss tool watch can match: every reference in this catalog carries at least 200m water resistance and a quartz movement built to survive drops, with prices here running from $110 to $1,400 — a fraction of what comparable shock- or water-resistance ratings cost from most mechanical-watch brands.
The range isn't one ladder of increasing quality, though — it's several specialized tools. The 2100 Series' GA-B2100 adds Tough Solar charging and Bluetooth phone sync that the base GA-2100 doesn't have; Master of G's Rangeman adds GPS positioning that Origin's DW-5600 doesn't carry. Pay for the feature you'll use, not the longest spec sheet.

Style, fit and buyer profile
G-SHOCK runs large: most references in this catalog measure 45-60mm case width, with Master of G and the Analog-Digital Classics line at the biggest end (55-60mm) and the 2100 Series spanning the widest range, from a slim 40.7mm up to 49.8mm. Origin's classic square sits around 46-49mm, though its slimmer variants (the GMD-S5600 and DWN-5600) run noticeably smaller.
Resin cases and straps keep most references light regardless of width, which is part of why G-SHOCK wears smaller on the wrist than the raw case numbers suggest — but the steel-cased Full Metal and G-STEEL lines trade that lightness for genuine heft. Try a resin reference before assuming a wide case won't work for your wrist.
Price positioning
Entry point here is $110 — several Origin and 2100 Series references share that price — rising to $650 for Full Metal's steel builds and up to $1,400 for Master of G's dive-rated Frogman. The jump in price buys materials (resin to steel) and features (quartz-only to solar, then solar plus Bluetooth or GPS), not a 'better' G-SHOCK.
Compared with Citizen's Eco-Drive solar line or a Seiko 5 Sports automatic, Casio's G-SHOCK competes on toughness and feature density rather than movement prestige — it's the watch to buy when you need something that survives a job, not the one you buy to admire a movement.
What sets Casio apart
Introduced in 1983 by engineer Kikuo Ibe after reportedly around 200 failed prototypes, G-SHOCK's case-within-a-case construction is the single idea every watch in this catalog is built around.
Converts light into power, removing the battery-replacement question on supporting references — present on several 2100 Series, Full Metal and Master of G models here, absent on Origin's base resin references.
Select references sync time and receive notifications over Bluetooth (GA-B2100, GMW-B5000D) or add standalone GPS positioning (Rangeman, Gravitymaster) — features layered on top of, not a replacement for, the base shock-resistant construction.
