Grand Seiko's high-accuracy quartz calibers are built to a manufacture standard that most quartz movements never approach, and this reference is a clean demonstration of it — a champagne dial, a 40mm steel case, 100m of water resistance, and a date function, all running on a movement that will hold its accuracy for decades with none of the maintenance a mechanical caliber demands. Quartz is an unusual choice for a watch this well finished, but that's precisely the point of cataloguing it separately: the movement-quality axis doesn't automatically favor mechanical, and this caliber earns its score on its own terms.
